Green, Janet Rae August 11, 1949 - June 3, 2014

Janet Rae Green was born on August 11, 1949, to Russell and Jackie Davis of Joplin, Missouri and passed away peacefully in her home on June 3, 2014. Janet was a dedicated daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend. Her door and her heart was always open. Many a problem was “solved” at her kitchen table and laughter was abundant. She attended Joplin High School from 1963 through 1967 and married Don Graham upon graduation. The marriage was blessed by the birth of the two loves of her life, Justin and Cindy. She was further favored by grandchildren, Zach and Turner, sons of Justin and Julie Kennon Graham of Springfield, Missouri and Miles Leo Graham, son of Cindy Graham, of El Dorado Springs, Missouri. Janet married Leo Green of El Dorado Springs in 1982 and the families of Danny and Teresa Green, Kathy and Kent Sibley, and Brenda and Brad Dale and their children were blended and bound by a special, unwavering love. Janet was dedicated to her brother, Jeff, and wife, Sara Davis, of Riverton, KS and children as well as her sister, Jill Davis, of the home until her illness. Leo and Janet owned and operated Green Oil in El Dorado Springs until Leo’s passing in 2007. She and Leo appreciated their loyal customers and enjoyed their many employees throughout the years, forging many lasting friendships. At one time, Leo said to her, “I think you guys are having too much fun.” Janet was involved in many community activities. She was currently President of Twilight Gardeners, Janet has served as a member/officer of Progress Club, Sigma Chi, Booster Club, BPW, and the EDS Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed attending and was a member of the Community Church of El Dorado Springs, where she sat by her special friend, Leona Bland. Janet was a presence. People sought her out. They wanted to spend time with her. She made everyone feel like they were special. She offered her opinion freely – just ask her kids. Her suggestions to family and friends alike, were tempered by love and concern. Janet always had everyone’s best interests at heart. If you smelled something good, it was Janet. She loved good scents, whether it be perfume or candles. Besides scents, her home was filled with soft jazz, R&B, and ‘feel good music.’ The kitchen was always open, the candy jar was always full, and her open and willing ear was always available. Her patio was the scene of welcome guests and laughter. The Green house was the gathering place and was a comfort-filled home brimming with love. If Janet said she would do something, she did it. She was honest and forthright. There was no doubt where she was coming from. She was a giver. She would help her children and friends at any time with anything. She loved to travel. She never ceased to be thrilled to get on an airplane or take a road trip. Janet loved digging in the dirt and planting flowers. Her flower garden was a great source of joy as well as Justin’s recent planting of a vegetable garden in her yard. In summary, Janet’s life mirrored I Corinthians 13:13, “the greatest of these is love.” Janet loved life and she loved people. She believed that our purpose on earth was all about love. Her friends were considered extended family and her children accepted them as well. She is survived by Justin and Julie Graham, Zach and Turner, Cindy and Miles Leo Graham, Jeff and Sara Davis, Ben and Nicolette, Beth, and Jill Davis, Danny and Teresa Green, Johnny and Sel Green, Nathan and Jameson, Melissa and John Kimes, Kathy and Kent Sibley, Tarah and Matt Clark and Lillian, Jake Sibley, Alex and Emily Sibley, Brenda and Brad Dale, Whitney Green, Kelsay Broll, and Sarah Stuteman, Tanner, Tayverie, Treighton, Treyce and Trance.
