Hooper, Dorsha April 24, 1941 - June 1, 2014

Dorsha Darlene (Smith) Hooper was born April 24, 1941 to Roy Smith and Wretha (Pasley) Smith, in Kansas City, Missouri and passed to her Heavenly home on June 1, 2014 at her home near Roscoe, Missouri.  From the age of 2, Dorsha lived on the family farm near Roscoe.  Dorsha attended grade school at Benton Green and Roscoe Elementary and graduated from Osceola High School as Valedictorian in 1959.  Growing up, Dorsha attended Roscoe Christian Church, where she accepted Christ in May, 1950 and was baptized in the town branch of Roscoe. She served her Lord by playing piano there for nearly 60 years. She also enjoyed riding horses, swimming, 4-H, sewing, cooking, and many other things.  Dorsha was united in marriage to Paul Hooper on July 16, 1960. To this union three sons were born, Gregory Paul, Daniel Roy, and Alan Dwayne. She spent most of her married life on the family farm, helping her husband and raising her sons. She helped with the family income by selling eggs, sewing, and cooking at Roscoe School. As her sons were nearly raised, she reentered the work force working at Osceola Cheese, Wheeler and Sons Livestock Auction, and Witt Printing Company until retirement. Through these jobs she made many friends, which she cherished. Together, her and Paul’s work ethic and good Christian morals were a legacy that was passed to their sons and their families. After her retirement, she continued to help Paul on the farm, made rugs on her loom, and enjoyed quilting with her daughter-in-law and sister-in-law. Before her passing, she had made a quilt for each of her sons, their wives, and many others.  Dorsha was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Wretha Smith, infant sister Donna Leroy, and infant granddaughter Samantha Jo Hooper.  She is survived by her husband, Paul of the home; their three sons, Greg and wife Donna, of Roscoe; Dan and wife Loni, of Moyie Springs, Idaho; and Alan and wife Tonya of El Dorado Springs;  seven grandchildren, Steve (Leah) Barnes, Shauna (Jesse) Clark, Paul (Katie) Hooper, Shelby Hooper, Dani Hooper, Courtney Hooper, and Roy Hooper;  eight great-grandchildren; and one great, great-grandson. Dorsha enjoyed life and will be greatly missed.
