Jackson, Arthur W. April 3, 1926 - April 4, 2019

Arthur “Sonny” Wesley Jackson passed from the earthly life to the ethereal life on April 4, 2019. He was born on April 3, 1926 in Atchison, Kansas to Arthur and Mary Jones Jackson. Arthur was the fourth of seven children, all sisters.

He lived in Kansas and Missouri until he went into the Navy at the age of seventeen. Arthur was sent to San Diego, California. The rest of the family followed him to California. He remained in California until he was discharged in 1947 from the Navy.

Remaining in California, Arthur met Lillian and they were married on June 25, 1926. They had two daughters, and he worked in construction until he retired in 1985. In 2009 they moved to Missouri to be near family.

Arthur loved working in his yard and taking road trips. In California his yard was the nicest looking on the block. He hated when he wasn’t able to get out in the yard and do even small tasks. He also liked going out to eat. Friday and Saturday nights were often spent with friends and/or family going out to dinner and then playing cards or a game. He loved his family and loved spending time with them. For sixty-four years Arthur was married to Lillian Aman Jackson before she passed away of brain cancer in July 2012. Lilly was one of six children and Arthur loved her family as his own.

He was preceded in death by his wife Lillian and all his sisters except one. Arthur is survived by his two daughters Sandra Lee Baker and Brenda Carol Wells and her husband Leslie; one sister Virginia Hillis; five grandchildren Shannon Lenhart, Artist Ferrin, Jacob Ferrin, Lacey Latham, and Wesley Baker; twenty-two great grand children; and two great great grand children. Arthur was loved and respected by many. He will be remembered and missed.
