Julison, Harold George February 4, 1926 - November 30, 2011

HAROLD G. JULISON passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2011, in Lewisville, TX. Harold was born on February 4, 1926 in Oak Brook, IL, to the late Harry W. and Mary R. Julison. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 36 years, Wynona; his brother, Richard and wife, Elaine; his loving children: Suzanne Gruber and husband, Gregory, Annette Van Tassell, Joseph Julison and wife, Beverly, Andy Mathews, Ed Mathews and wife, Bari, Danna Leslie and husband, Larry; grandchildren: Bryan Heuertz, Kelly Heuertz, Michael Van Tassell, Nicole Van Nelson, Jacquelyn Julison, Brandy Julison, Scott Gruber, John Gruber, Ross Mathews, Ryan Leslie, Jeff Leslie, Chris Leslie, Austin Knight, Dalton McDisset; and great grandchildren: Jonathan and Jacqueline Van Tassell, Savannah, Ryan, and Sarin Hadley, Jace Jones, Gabriella and Jack Gruber, and Kelsey Gruber. In addition to his parents, Harold is predeceased by his beloved daughter, Jeannette Julison, brother, Walter Julison, and sister, Marian Wittersheim. Harold spent his childhood in Maywood and Chicago, IL. He was an aerial gunner in the Army Air Corps from 1943-1946, where he received the Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal and American Theater Ribbon. In 1948, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served as a Photographer on the USS Taconic. Following his military service, Harold was a commercial photographer, and worked as a Route Delivery Salesman for the Coca Cola Company for 26 years. Harold and Wynona married in 1975, and lived in Overland Park, KS until 1989, when they retired to Collins, MO. Harold became very interested in improving local services for Collins residents, and served as Mayor of Collins for 7 years. During his tenure as Mayor, Harold and his good friend, Roger Wood, were involved in the development of the Volunteer Fire Department of Collins. Harold was also an active member of the Collins Christian Church and the Lions Club. In 2005, Harold and Wynona relocated to Lewisville, TX, where they were honored to live with their son, Andy Mathews. Harold was an enthusiastic fisherman and photographer who loved to take wandering drives in the country looking for a naturally beautiful setting to photograph or a peaceful lake on which to fish. He was a sports fan who loved the World Champion Dallas “Mavs.” Harold was also an avid harmonica player, with a list of more than 50 songs in his repertoire that he enjoyed playing mostly in church. He was devoted to his family and his love of the Lord.
