Lack, Hazel Frances September 16, 1919 - August 20, 2013

Hazel “Frances” Lack was born in Edwardsville, Kansas on September 16, 1919 to Brice and Emma Aldridge. On August 20, 2013 at the age of 93, Frances went home to join her loved ones and spend eternity with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. At the age of twelve the family moved to Osceola. They returned to Kansas City, Kansas a short few years later where Frances met and married George Perkins and to them a daughter, Carol, was born. They were divorced when Carol was a baby and the Aldridge family returned to Osceola to stay. Frances married Forest Lack, the love of her life, and they spent a happy sixty five years together until Forest left in 2004 to wait for her in their heavenly home. Frances began her working years at the telephone office in Osceola as a switchboard operator, pulling and pushing the old plug-in-lines connecting and disconnecting calls. She also worked as a cook at the Old Commercial Hotel, at Gilberts BBQ, worked assembly line at Rival Manufacturing, various tasks at Osceola Cheese and retired as a cook at Sac Osage Hospital. Frances loved to work and she loved people. She worked as a volunteer for the Food Banc and the Hospital Auxillary for several years. She finally had to give it all up due to ill health. Frances was very active in the Women’s Club in her neighborhood until they ceased meeting many years ago. In earlier years she taught Sunday School and was secretary at her beloved Church of the Brethren. In 2005 Frances and Carol moved to Harrisonville, MO. Frances missed her church and her Osceola friends ver;y much. It became harder in the past eight ;years for her to travel and they were very much on her mind. Although in ill health and in a wheelchair the last sev3eral years, knowing her family needed her, Frances bravely held on as long as she could. Kansas City Hospice came on board in August of 2012 and made her last few months easier and more enjoyable. The Hospice nursesw, chaplain and doctor gave her the social connections she missed so much. She loved to tell them about her life and the people from her past in Osceola and they enjoyed her stories. Besides her parents, Brice and Emma, five brother, Edgar, Willis, Robert, Raymond, and Brice, Jr.; two sisters, Louise Aldridge Bradley and Lola Aldridge Burdolski preceded her in leaving this world. Frances leaves behind to join her later, her daughter, Carol Lack Novak; grandchildren, Barbara Harper Thomas, Debora Harper, Sonny Harper and Bill Harper; great-grandchildren, Branden Harper, April Harper Brandt, Durrel Harper, Josh Harper, Michael Harper, Zack Harper, Jake Harper and Justin Hayes; twelve great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law Pat Aldridge, brother-in-law Ed Burdolski, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
