Ivan B. Leiber was born February 3, 1923 to Willie and Eva Leiber at Quincy, Missouri. He died October 31, 2012 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. He was married to Erma Lee Manuel February 19, 1942. To this union six children were born. Ivan and Erma celebrated 70 years together. Except for his years in the Army, their married life was spent in and around the Osceola area. Ivan worked a variety of jobs including 19 years at Reser Motor Co. He probably enjoyed being in the timber cutting wood the most. When he had to give it up, he enjoyed traveling to Mountain Grove, to daughter Kathy and earl Smith’s sawmill, and watching their operation with great pride. Ivan was a wise and loving father and grandfather. He loved all his grandchildren, and was instrumental in the raising of several. You could not stop by to see grandpa without leaving with a pocket knife, tools, or collector car. He was especially proud of the Leiber racing team, and went to the races as long as he was able. Lap, as he was affectionately known, could be found at Country Corner Auction whenever Wes was having a sale. He rarely missed, unless he was in the hospital. How he loved to visit and tell stories! Ivan was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, a son and beloved granddaughter. He is survived by his wife Erma Lee; sons Bucky and Wes; daughters Sharon Korsi, Linda McCallister, Kathy Smith; two sisters, Dean Baldwin and Ardith Watson; 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 5 great great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. He will be deeply missed. The family wishes to thank Bill and Cathe Jo Leiber and Bob Burkhart for their dedication to Ivan’s care.
