A true Patriot. Gene Lovewell was raised in Osceola, Missouri where he attended school all 12 years. Gene was voted President of his class all four years from 1959-1962. He was a very good basketball player. He played all four years of high school and started for two years for Coach Bill Kazmerick, whom he spoke of quite frequently.
It was in 1965 where he met the love of his life Jeanie Sayre. On October 2nd. 1965 they were married and began starting their family. Shortly after they were married he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized. He continued to follow Christ for the remainder of his life. Gene attended Central Missouri State University where he was slated to be on the freshman basketball team before he injured his foot. After this set back he would later enlisted in the United States Army. He served for one year, one month and 24 days earning the title of sharp shooter before being honorably discharged due to his mothers illness with cancer. He would remain on inactive reserve until 1969.
Gene spent most of his working years driving a semi truck over the road around the country. He won many awards for the millions of miles he drove without accidents. He would pick up a hitch-hiker from time to time and share Jesus with them before he would drop them off at their next destination. There was a time when Gene was in Law-enforcement and ran for county sheriff. The final verdict that came down” he was just too nice” to hold this title.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, arrowhead hunting and using his metal detector. Gene loved spending time with his wife; watching his kids play sports, sing and playing with his grandchildren. Gene enjoyed target shooting with his family. In the last few years he was very involved at James River Church. He and his wife Jeanie bonded with many people where he never knew a stranger.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Opal Lovewell and an infant sister, Ruth Ann Lovewell.
He is survived by his wife Jeanie of 55 years; daughter Micahla of Ozark, MO; son Trent of Omaha, NE with his wife Christy and their children Maya, Megan and Mckinley, son Kevin of Osceola, MO and his wife Kim and their children Jake, Austin, Lindsey, Shelby, Brianna, Sheridan, nine great grandchildren; sister, Janice Wagner of Elkland, Missouri
