Mackey, Randy W. September 6, 1951 - November 24, 2012

Randy Wesley Mackey was born September 6, 1951 in Van Nuys, California to Manual Wesley “Doc” and Edna Lorraine (McKenna) Mackey. He passed away after a 7 year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease on November 24, 2012 at his home. From an early age Randy had a fondness for the outdoors and wildlife. He loved finding and raising lizards he collected in Simi Valley where old western movies were filmed. He also collected butterflies and insects. He enjoyed camping with his family on the beach and hunting with his Dad in California and Utah. Randy excelled in sports including handball and baseball while attending schools in Los Angeles. The family moved to Collins, Missouri in 1966. Randy graduated from Weaubleau High School in 1969. He attended college at SBU before joining the Missouri National Guard where he served 6 years as Captain’s Driver then Senior Accountant. Randy married June Kay VanSickel on August 19, 1972. They celebrated their 40th Wedding Anniversary with their family this year. They have two daughters, Makeesha and Toriana and six grandchildren: Corey Parker, Dalen Munro, Makenna Munro, Leanna Collins, Natali Collins, and Megan Collins. Their seventh grandchild is expected in May 2013. Randy and his wife, June Kay, worked together in Real Estate for 32 years, retiring in 2006. Randy was a Broker and Certified Appraiser. He served as State Director and Recruiter as well as Expert Witness in Circuit and Federal Courts. Randy enjoyed taking part in his daughter’s activities and working with other young people. He coached basketball, softball and led 4H activities. He shared his love of wildlife and the outdoors by taking them fishing and hunting whenever possible. Everyone looked forward to his scary stories and pranks. He had a way with young people. He knew just what to say to provide encouragement and advice or to just listen quietly when needed. He served many years as Youth Minister, Activities Director, and Deacon at Vista Baptist Church. For many years, Randy played basketball with the mens league in Clinton, Missouri building lifelong friendships. Randy was passionate about hunting. He always enjoyed telling the tale of his recent hunt. He took trips with friends and family to Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, Iowa and spent many days in the woods around his home. Randy earned his 2nd Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. He enjoyed helping younger students and made many dear friends. Randy is survived by his wife, June Kay Mackey; mother, Edna Mackey; Father, Doc Mackey; sister Linda Evans; daughter, Makeesha Munro; and her husband Scott, daughter, Toriana Collins; 6 grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was a wonderful Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother and Son. He will be greatly missed.
