Martin, Maymie E. April 13, 1923 - July 3, 2013

Maymie Ellen McCoy Martin was born April 13, 1923 near Neosho, MO to Hazel (Lester) and Earnest McCoy. She passed away on July 3, 2013 after a short illness. She had been living in the Rehabilitation Center of Raymore, MO for the past four years. Before coming to the nursing home Ellen lived in the Bates City and Oak Grove areas for almost thirty years with her husband Dannie A. Martin and one of her grandsons Michael Evert. Dannie preceded her in death. Most of her time was spent being a homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to cook and was very good at it. Ellen also loved to work in her garden and with her flowers. She made beautiful quilts that she shared with all her children. She was an active member in the Oak Grove Baptist Church, working with bible school or anything that was needed. Ellen went on several trips with the seniors from church and enjoyed that very much. Also preceding Ellen in death are two daughters, Janice Irene Calvin and Rhonda Michelle Martin, one granddaughter, Shayla Burkhart. She is survived by children, Jack Burkhart and wife Joyce, Lee’s Summit, MO, Jerry Burkhart and wife Deanna, Liberal, KS, Sheila Archer and husband, Gene, Raymore, MO; seven grandchildren, two step grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, seven step great grandchildren and one great- great grandson. Also surviving are her sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews and several others that will miss her dearly.
