Marvelene Pearl (Brown) Dennis, age 92, passed away at her home in El Dorado Springs, Missouri, on March 14, 2025, following a brief illness. She was born on April 4, 1932, to Glenn and Georgia (Owens) Brown in Beaver, Oklahoma.

When Marvelene was a young girl, she and her family left the Oklahoma Dust Bowl behind and moved to a farm near Portia, Missouri. She graduated from El Dorado Springs, Missouri, High School in 1949 and remained a resident of the community since then. After a 31-year career at Sac Osage Electric Cooperative, Marvelene retired from the Accounts Receivable Department in 1987. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in El Dorado Springs.

Marvelene married her high school sweetheart, Roy Dennis, on July 8, 1950, and they were married nearly 75 years. During their many years together, they enjoyed traveling, playing golf, wintering in Florida, supporting EHS and MSU athletics, and spending time with family. Two sons, Denny and Danny Dennis, were born to this union. Both predeceased her.

Marvelene’s hobbies included photography, needlepoint, reading, singing, and playing the piano. She loved her home among the oak trees and spent many hours relaxing on the porch swing on the back deck. Even as her health declined, Marvelene’s deepest desire was to remain in her home throughout her final years. With Roy’s tireless care and the help of devoted neighbors, Greg and Myrna Beydler, and Lyle and Rhonda Bland, she was able to achieve that.

She is survived by her husband, Roy, of the home; grandchildren Danielle Wyland, Bois D’Arc, Missouri; Misty Pettit, Nevada, Missouri; Dane Dennis, Webb City, Missouri; and Aaron (Whitney) Dennis, Springfield, Missouri; as well as great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by daughters-in-law Arlene Dennis, Phoenix, Arizona; and Marilyn Dennis, Springfield, Missouri; sister Darlene Anderson, El Dorado Springs, Missouri; sisters-in-law Ruth Brown, El Dorado Springs, Missouri; and Donna Hopper, Republic, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her sons, she was predeceased by her parents, as well as her brothers, David Brown, Gerald Brown, and Ray Brown.

A joint graveside service for Roy and Marvelene will be held at the El Dorado Springs City Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 12, 2026.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the First Baptist Church, 500 South Main Street, El Dorado Springs, Missouri
64744.
