McCoy, Mary Domann October 2, 1927 - March 23, 2010

Mary Mae Domann McCoy was born October 2, 1927, in Kirksville, MO. to Gustav and Anna Domann.  She died March 23, 2010, at St Luke’s East Hospital in Lee’s Summit, MO.  She was married to Allen McCoy JR on August 7, 1948.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Allen, and daughter Lorelei.  She is survived by her daughter & husband, Mary Aleene & Gary Wallen of Raytown, MO, grandson & wife, Christopher and Susan Wallen along with great-grandchildren Liberty & Cooper, all of Platte City, MO.  She is also survived by her brother, Darrel Domann M.D. of Springfield, MO, and her sister, Anita Settle of Urbana, MO.

She attended Lowry City High School and portrayed “Grandma McCoy” in her senior year play where members of the audience yelled out, “Take her to Hollywood”.

After graduating from high school, she became a licensed Cosmetologist and owned her own Salon in Lowry City. After marriage, she moved to Raytown in the early 1950s. She retired from TWA in 1990 and enjoyed making baby blankets for the NICU at St. Luke’s Hospital in her spare time. She was actively involved in local craft shows where she displayed her skills at crocheting and jokingly handing out business cards with her title listed as, “The Happy Hooker”.

Her greatest joy was when she truly became “Grandma McCoy” with the birth of her grandson Chris and being “Granny” to her great grand children Liberty and Cooper. She was actively engaged in their lives and enjoyed cooking with Liberty and play acting with Cooper.

Faith was an integral part of her life. She was a very caring person and would always remind you to, “Drive careful because it was getting bad out” even if it was a sunny day. Her loss leaves a deep hole in all of our lives and hearts.

The family would like to thank the ICU nurses, especially Doug, and the doctors of St. Luke’s east for their outstanding care and compassion during her time there. It was unequaled and will never be forgotten!
