Linda Sue (Howe) McFarland was born in Osceola, Missouri June 25, 1941 to Russell and Myrtle (Winn) Howe. She passed away August 21, 2017 at her home near Osceola, Missouri.
She was the only child of Russel and Myrtle Howe. Linda was a member of the Osceola Christian Church from an early age. In her younger years, she frequently played piano for the church. In 1959 Linda graduated from Osceola High School where she attended all 12 years.
Linda began her career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Kansas City, Missouri soon graduation and continued this employment for over 30 years. She began as a telephone operator and quickly advanced to a position in management. Following her retirement from Southwester Bell, Linda began employment as an office manager with H&R Block. For over 10 years she could be found every day from January 1st through April 15th at the H & R Block office.
She loved to travel and enjoyed traveling many miles with friends Phyllis (Kester) Tillotson and Judy (Traeger) Dingley. On one adventure, they set out to see every lighthouse on the east coast. She traveled to New Orleans for Mardi Gras 24 years in a row.
Combining her love of travel with her love of visiting with her friends, Linda looked forward to spending time with “The 59ers” : Lindal (Sink) Gibbens, Doris (Wisner) Wheeler, Phyllis (Kester) Tillotson, Judy (Traeger) Dingley, and Janie Scott Frost.
Linda leaves two sons: Jeffrey Lynn McFarland and Chad Neil McFarland, and two grandchildren: Justin McFarland and Hailey McFarland.
Linda was loved and will be sadly missed by family and friends!
