Esther May Hearn McLerran was born on June 14, 1935 in the family home to Henry and Sylphy Hearn. She passed away April 5, 2012 at her home near Harper, Missouri.
Esther started working as a telephone operator in Lowry City at a young age. She worked for H. Roe Bartle Scout Camp in the summers for many years while also serving in the Osceola School District for 24 years where she became the head cook. She retired from the school in 2000.
On July 15, 1950 Esther was united in marriage to Nicholas Ivan McLerran. This union was blessed with 3 sons and 2 daughters. They made their home in the Harper Community for 60 years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Sylphy Hearn; 3 brothers, Claude, Walter, and Edgar Hearn; 2 granddaughters and 1 grandson.
Esther is survived by 3 sons, Nicky Ray McLerran and wife Darlene of Nemo, Missouri, Curtis Lee McLerran and wife Marla of Bleveland, Missouri, Rodney Joe McLerran and wife Kenya of Osceola, Missouri; 2 daughters, Donna Faye (McLerran) Hooper and husband Greg of Osceola, Missouri, Lesia Deann (McLerran) Doolin and husband Barry of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; 2 sisters, Norma Hannah of Osceola, Missouri and Leta Broyels of Raymore, Missouri; 1 brother Roy Hearn of Raytown, Missouri; 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren along with other relatives and many friends.
