James O. (Jim) Naylor, Sr. was born September 3rd, 1921 in rural Lowry City to James Rawley and Lillian Rose Tinsley Naylor. He passed March 14th, 2013. He attended grade school at Grandview, Hillsdale and Lewellen rural school and graduated high school at Lowry City, High School in 1939. His graduating class was the first to graduate in the then new gymnasium. Also in 1939 he was attending a revival meeting and one evening while he and his father were doing farm chores he accepted Jesus as his personal lord and savior using the guard rail at a hog house farrowing pen as his alter. In 1941 he was united in marriage to Ruth Elnora Naylor. To this union were born three sons, James O. Jr. (Jim), Mark Christopher and Gregory Lynn. Gregory Lynn passed away shortly after his birth and Elnora met her lord and savior in 1961 after a long illness. In 1966 James was united in marriage to Josephine Ferguson who passed away in 1983. Josie as we called her was a very diligent and loving wife and step-mother. Josie was a very special lady. James later had a special friend and companion Joann Noakes. They especially enjoyed gardening, canning and conversation with friends at the coffee shop. After Joann’s passing in 1998, James had a final friend and companion Czrena Shulse. James and Czrena also enjoyed canning, gardening, taking care of the livestock and simply enjoying their last years. Czrena passed away in 2012. James served his country during WWII in the Army from February 1943 to November 1945. He landed at Utah Beach during Battle of the Bulge. He received five bronze stars for battles and campaigns in Northern France; Ardennes; Rhineland and Central Europe. He spent his later working years farming and commercial/industrial construction throughout the Unites States as well as out of the country. He was preceded in death by his parents James R. and Lillian, wife Elnora, son Gregory, sisters Helen Wilcox and Norma Baxter and brother Robert. Also his wife Josephine, companion Joann and companion Czrena. He is survived by sons James Jr. and wife Jeanie of Osceola, Mark and wife Cindy of Lowry City. One sister, Roma Thompson (Charlie), Hawthorne, CA. Granddaughters Jennifer Swope (Jon), Springfield, MO, Jana Witt (Scott), El Dorado Springs, MO, Jayne Hankins (George), Osceola, MO and Stephanie Dull (Jeff), Lowry City, MO and grandsons Robert Naylor, Lowry City, MO, Ryan Naylor (Alisha), Merriam, KS and Ryan Wagner (Leigha), Liberty, MO. 14 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
