Betty June Paxton was born June 4, 1929 to Leonard Cressan and Emma Marie (Maynard) Schrader in Lewellen, Nebraska. She passed away on August 20, 2011 at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, Missouri.
As a young girl she moved to Sedalia with her mother, where she went to school at Smith Cotton High School. After school she was married and raised her three daughters, Christina, Phyllis and Mary. She worked as a waitress and in a green house for many years. In her later middle life she devoted her time to taking care of her mother.
Betty loved gardening of all kinds. She also enjoyed crocheting and quilting and being around family and friends at family get togethers. She was well loved by anyone she met.
She is preceded in death by her mother; 1 son, George C. Hamel; 2 grandsons, Frankie and Robert Amos and 1 son-in-law, Frank Whitby, husband of Mary L. Whitby.
Betty is survived by 3 daughters, Christina M. Beach and husband Richard of Lowry City, Missouri, Phyllis A. Thrush and husband Scott of Gerster, Missouri, and Mary L. Whitby of Osceola, Missouri; 4 grandchildren, Gary Holman of Sedalia, Missouri, Sheri Miller of Clinton, Missouri, Brian Hamel of Osceola, Missouri and Sarah Martinez of Kansas City, Missouri; 7 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren; 2 very close cousins, Betty Garrett and Richard DeLamater and one nephew Russell along with other relatives and friends.
