Raymond E. Powell was born on July 5, 1934, at the family home in Collins, Missouri to Jessie and Cora Mae (Hatfield) Powell. He passed away peacefully at age 88 in his home with his family surrounding him on September 18, 2022.

Raymond graduated from Collins High School in 1951. Shortly after graduation, he joined the Army and was in for 2 years. He worked many jobs over the years including having the opportunity of working on a Ranch in Colorado, and he worked for Mid America Dairy in Eldorado Springs, Missouri. Raymond retired from the Missouri State Highway Department, but his love always revolved around being a full-time farmer and cattle rancher.

Raymond married Wanda Creek in 1959 and to this union 3 daughters were born: Karen (Dick) Weatherholt who live in Admire, KS, Sandy (Lee) Stearman from Lone Jack, MO, and lastly Kim (David) Smith who reside in Cabot, AR.

In his spare time, he loved watching the Chiefs play football and watching baseball. He enjoyed gardening and grew the best vegetables around. Ray was an avid Bluegrass fan and traveled many of miles. You could often find him sitting around the round table at Smiths restaurant visiting with many friends. Ray’s greatest enjoyment of his life was his family. He was very proud of them, and spending time with him was something he always looked forward too.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents Jessie and Cora Mae Powell and two brothers, Warren and Kenneth.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, his daughters, as well as 6 grandchildren: Jessie, Laura, Meredith, Joshua, Cody and Montana, 11 great-grandchildren, his four-legged friend Molly, and many friends. He will be greatly missed.

Memorial contributions can be made in the care of Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home to Robinson Cemetery.
