Richard Van (Dick) Powell was born on April 21, 1933, in Sudan, Texas to Emma and Connie Powell.  He passed away January 15, 2024, in Lowry City, Missouri at the age of 90.

Dick grew up and went to school in Sudan Texas and graduated in 1950. He then went on to work with his dad as a cotton farmer and did that for 8 years. He spent the remainder of his working career self-employed. He married Charline Davis and to this union 3 kids were born: Debbie, Rick and Eddie. Richard moved his family to Osceola in January of 1967 from Texas.

Richard enjoyed fishing, playing golf and hunting quail. Once his kids started their families he was overtaken by his love for his grandchildren and then the great grandkids.

Richard was a follower of Christ. His passion was to lead worship at local revivals.  He loved singing gospel music. He led the singing in several local churches in the Osceola area.

Richard was preceded in death by his wife Wilda Charline Powell, his mom Emma Josephine Powell, his dad Connie Hicks Powell, his sister Connie June Dickerson, his son Eddie Dean Powell, and his grandson John Harlin Powell.

Richard is survived by: 3 sisters Pat Baldridge, Sandra Davis and Tammie Furdon, his children Debbie and Herb Collins, Rick and Jan Powell, Rhonda Powell (Eddie). He had 9 grandchildren: Eric Collins (Angie), Justin Collins, Adam Collins (Amy), Aaron Collins (Sami), Ashley Powell (Melissa), Seth Collins (Danielle), Raylene Tormanen (Scott) and Hannah Badgett. He and Charline had 24 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild.
