Quick, Diana S. May 12, 1956 - August 6, 2022

Diana Sue Quick was born on May 12, 1956, in Sedalia, Missouri to James Andrew and Betty Jean (Bowman) Crawford, the oldest of four children. She passed away August 6, 2022, in Springfield, Missouri. She grew up in Windsor, Missouri, attending school there until her family moved to the Oyer area, where she transferred to Osceola High School. She was in a bad car wreck in the fall of 1972 and unable to finish high school, but she proudly earned her G.E.D. in July of 2004. She worked at Dunbrooke Manufacturing in El Dorado Springs as a sewing machine operator during the 1980s until they closed the main plant in the early 2000’s.

Her entire world changed when she became a proud loving mother with the birth of Douglas Alan in August 1974 and again in November 1975 with the birth of Angela Jean. After her divorce, she became a strong independent young woman raising two little ones. Later she met Alfred Quick and they married on June 10, 1978. Years later, after Alfred’s death, she met her longtime companion Joe Gray.

Diane, as she was known by family and friends, wore many hats throughout her life, She was the big sister to three onery boys. Sometimes she was right there in the middle of what they were doing, and other times she would be the bossy one trying to keep them in line. She grew up being taught to work hard—nothing in this life was free, be dependable, and that family and friends were everything! Because of this, her bond with her siblings only got stronger with the loss of their younger brother, Ray and then again with the passing of their parents. She became known as Aunt DiDi with the birth of her nephew, Justin Michael, a nickname that would continue to be used by many of her great-nieces and great-nephews. As both of her parents came from exceptionally large families, she was a special niece and cousin to many. She loved telling of the countless memories that she shared with her extended family. She was a friend to many, but there is one relationship that stands out, that of her best friend and partner in crime, Barbara Sawyer Ferguson. A friendship that spanned more than 53 years, they raised their children and grandchildren together. Barb was the sister that she never had. Her proudest moment and greatest title ever was when she became a grandma to four granddaughters and then later when she became a great-grandma to four boys. She was a proud grandma and loved to see what her grandbabies were up to regardless of how old they were.

An Alan Jackson lovin’ straight shooter, she was always willing to let you know how she felt about a situation. One always knew where they stood with Diane. She had a wonderful sense of humor. She was strong-willed and loved to prove others wrong, which is exactly what she did earlier this year when she battled COVID-19. Through sheer determination, she was able to spend the last two months in the home that Joe built for her with her beloved dogs, B.J. and Chubby watching T.V. Land and her game shows.

Diana was preceded in death by her parents, husband Alfred, longtime companion Joe Gray, brother Ray, special nephew Justin Michael Crawford, and many special aunts and uncles. She is survived by her son Doug Crawford, daughter Angie Jones, brothers; Jim (Diane) Crawford and Darryl (Kelly) Crawford, granddaughters: Makayla (Jett) Osborn, Morgan Jones, Tiffany (Seth) Crawford, and Madison Jones, great grandsons: Xavier, Xander, Xaiden Parker and Joey Osborn, a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins and numerous friends.
