James Monroe Reaves, 92, of El Dorado Springs, Missouri passed away January 14, 2012 at Community Springs Nursing Home.
James Reaves was born on November 10, 1919 near Elkland, Missouri to Jesse Reaves and Birgie (Jones) Reaves. James Reaves married Alpha Loretta Wilson of Eldon, Missouri on November 26, 1941. To this union were born two sons, Carl Wayne Reaves and Dennis Dwight Reaves. James Reaves served over three years in te Army Air Force during World War II, attained the rank of sergeant and saw overseas duty on the island of Okinawa. After the war James and Alpha moved to a farm in the Pacetown area south of El Dorado Springs where they raised Angus cattle and James worked at the milk plant in town as long as his health permitted.
James Reaves was preceded in death by his parents, son Carl Wayne Reaves, who died in 1961 at age 18 and sisters Beulah Gardner of the State of California and Delores Hicks of El Dorado Springs, Missouri. James Reaves is survived by his wife Alpha Reaves of the home, son Dennis and his wife Glenda, of Stockton, Missouri, three grandsons, Derek Reaves and wife Meredith, of Rogers, Arkansas, Devin Reaves and wife Susan of Rogers, Arkansas, Bryan Reaves of Springfield, Missouri and three great grandchildren. James Reaves is also survived by sister Bernice Davis of the state of California, brother Don Reaves of El Dorado Springs, brother John Reaves of Kansas City, Missouri, brothers Herbert Reaves and Darrell Ray Reaves of the state of California, brother-in-law Lowrence Hicks of El Dorado Springs, and numerous nephews and nieces.
