Patricia Ann Settle was born in La Fayette, Indiana on September 6th, 1932 to Mary and Arlie Albright. Pat peacefully passed into the arms of our Lord on January 16, 2019 at 11:30 PM, at the age of 86.
She was raised by Mary and her step father, Elmer Vahle in the Osceola area along with her sisters: Esther, June, Wilma, Lois, and Beverly.
She met Joseph C. Settle, her future husband, at a Lowry City football game and they married in February of 1955. Joe served in the US Army in Washington, DC while Patricia worked as a cosmetologist. Later Joe took a job with Western Auto, which moved them to the Kansas City area. They raised 3 daughters and a son. Patricia and Joe served the Lord together at First Regular Baptist Church for over 20 years.
Pat loved working with children as a Sunday school teacher, nursery supervisor and Awana leader. She lost her husband, Joe, on April 23, 1982 at the young age of 47. During this time, she was supported and guided by friends of Western Auto and church family. Her friends taught her to drive, secure her finances, and mentored her 12 year old son, Doug. She continued her new independent life working at JC Penney’s in 1984, then moved to the Independence area and worked at JoAnn’s craft store until she retired at the age of 74.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and husband. Pat is survived by her children, Brenda (Chris) Nelson, Sandy (Paul) Trewett, Paula (Ron) King, and Doug (Jennifer) Settle; 13 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.
