Shaffer, David W. October 14, 1961 - January 9, 2018

David Wayne Shaffer, 56, was born October 14th, 1961 in Overland Park, KS to Jack Shaffer and Evelyn (Shaffer) Horn. David passed away peacefully at his little home in Osceola, Missouri on January 9th, 2018.

He began his life around Overland Park Kansas where he attended Midland Adventist School. He loved being around animals and playing outdoors with his friends. David made friends as a small child with a lot of the same friends he kept until the day he passed. He made friends for life.

In 1977 David met Melinda Magdaleno. The young couple decided to be married in 1982 and in 1984 were blessed with a daughter, Sarah Shaffer. In 1990 they were blessed with their son, Tyler Wayne Shaffer. The two later divorced but both continued to share their love to the children they had created together.

David moved to Grandview, Missouri where he lived next door to his childhood best friend Randy Goodloe. They later decided to move down to Truman Lake where again, they continued to share property and a lifelong friendship until Randy passed away in 2015.

He lived a simple life exactly the way he wanted to live it. When he wasn’t working as a Contractor he would fill his days and nights being outdoors, hunting, fishing, working on cars, boating, mushroom or reptile hunting, and drinking a cold beer with his friends. If he was indoors David enjoyed wood/bone carving, reading a book, listening to the radio, watching a western, and of course drinking a cold beer with his friends.

David will be remembered as an honest man who believed in God. As an admirable, goofy, and gentle Dad. David was a loving brother and lifelong friend to many. He loved animals, nature, and was an Avid Fisherman. 🙂

He is preceded in death by his best friend Randy Goodloe and a brother Benjamin Shaffer who was in his infancy.

David is survived by his Daughter, Sarah Shaffer and his Son Tyler W. Shaffer. Four month old first Grandchild Silas J. Butler. His parents Jack Shaffer and Evelyn Horn. Brother Ronnie Shaffer and Wife Cynthia. Two Sisters, Connie Peterson and Allie Shaffer. Several Nieces and Nephews. Also survived by his brotherhood of friends whom he very much considered family, John Waren, Steve “Joker” Sandquist, Steve “Chief” Kagarice and many others.
