Myrtle Marie Simrell was born November 12, 1914 in Collins, MO to William Frederick and Elsie Susan (Kearney) Simrell. She passed away December 25, 2010 at Sac-Osage Hospital, Osceola, MO.
Myrtle and her family moved to Osceola, MO in 1928. She graduated from Osceola High School in 1933, attended Southwest Missouri State College, Golden Rule Business School, a private school in the Woodruff Building, Springfield, MO. Myrtle was a member of the Osceola First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, where she served as Trustee and Deaconess, a charter member of the Springfield Chapter of American Business Women, a member of the National Women’s Credit Association, and a member of Delta Zeta Chi Sorority.
She worked many years as a credit and personnel manager for Wyman-Daniel Clothing Co., Paige Mulhollan Furniture Co., Burge Hospital, now known as Cox North, Hoover Music Co., retiring after 29 years and then for the Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home until her passing.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Beulah and husband Amos York; one brother-in-law, John Keller and one nephew, John Fredrick Keller.
Myrtle is survived by one sister, Verdean Keller, Oklahoma City, OK; 3 nieces, Carolyn Sue and husband Douglas Hopkins of Warrenton, VA, Patricia Ann Keller of Oklahoma City, OK and Janet Kaye and husband Rev. Kenneth Brown of Krakow, Poland; 3 great-nephews, 2 great-nieces, 3 great-great nephews, 2 great-great nieces, several cousins and her special Springfield family Dr.’s Bill and Margo Armstrong and their children and friends.
