Ronald Neil Smart of Iconium, Missouri was born May 15, 1953 in Warsaw, Missouri to Herman Neil and Maxine (Crabtree) Smart. He was the youngest child and only son. He passed away September 12, 2015 at his home near Iconium, Missouri. He grew up on the Osage River learning to hunt and fish at a very young age. Ron graduated from Deepwater High School in 1971. He worked on his parents farm until 1974 when he met Peggy Hendren. They dated for about a month and became engaged just before Christmas. They were both saved and baptized January of 1975 at the Baptist Church in Deepwater. On February 2, 1975 they were married in Moberly, Missouri. Davie, their only child was born February 1, 1979 and was the light of their life. During Davies’s school years they attended school functions including all kinds of sports and bull rides. With the arrival of his grandchildren his attention turned to them. Teaching them the fine art of hunting and fishing. They also enjoyed checking the cows together. Ron always grew large gardens, sharing his produce with his neighbors. Ron caught most of the fish for many of the local fish fry’s. Ron’s main passion in life was hunting, fishing and trapping with his friends and family. A childhood friend, Eddie Hiser spent a lot of time with Ron hunting. His children and grandchildren occupied most of the rest of his time. He loved cooking for the kids and fish was his specialty. He taught them to work in the garden and would pay them to do odd jobs. He was always getting them treats from the store. He helped take care of his parents until his mothers passing in 2007. He farmed raised cattle, cut fescue and put up hay until 2012. He was a member of the Iconium Fire Department when his health was good. Ron was a member of the Osceola Community Church. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Neil and Maxine Smart and 1 sister, Lovella Hilty. He is survived by Peggy, his wife of 40 years where they resided near Iconium, Missouri; his son Davie and wife Mary, grandchildren, Taylor, Gage and Nate Smart, also of Iconium, Missouri; sister, Loretta Young and husband Gary of Riverside, Missouri; sister-in-law Deanna Anderson and husband Gene of Dallas, Georgia, sister-in-law Connie Hasten and husband Bill of Blue Springs, Missouri; 5 nephews and 4 nieces, great nephews and great nieces, many cousins and many, many friends and neighbors.
