Smith, Alton Jack May 20, 1944 - January 5, 2021

Alton “Jack” Smith, age 76, of rural El Dorado Springs, Missouri passed away at Citizen’s Memorial Hospital in Bolivar, Missouri on January 5, 2021 as a result of COVID.  Jack was born on May 20, 1944 in Carroll County, Missouri.  He was the son of James Louis and Ethel Lorene (Ellis) Smith.  He was the youngest of 6 children.

Jack attended grade school at Roscoe and high school at Osceola, graduating in 1962.  He married Carole Elizabeth Blair on October 30, 1964.  Two children were born to this marriage, Gregory Lorne and Audrey Elizabeth.  They were divorced in 1982.  He married Sandra Darlene Anderson on September 23, 1983 and remained her companion until her death on December 10, 2002.  Jack and Carole remarried in 2003.  They lived in rural El Dorado Springs where Jack had lived since 1950.

He worked as a well driller, mechanic and had a salvage yard for many years.  Jack was a member of Pape Christian Church and served on the board.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Vernie and Donnie and sisters, Mary and Barbara.

He is survived by his wife, Carole, of the home; son, Greg and friend Mitch of Aurora, Colorado; daughter, Audrey Carter and husband Duane; two grandsons, Jared and Isaac of Springfield, Missouri; sister, Billie Nell Bruce of El Dorado Springs, Missouri and an aunt, Wilda Lee Cox of Bogard, Missouri.  His grandsons were the highlight of his life.

Jack will be cremated under the direction of Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home.  There will be no services.

    Jack has gone to be with our father too soon. What a blessing for him and although, we will all miss him, we will join him one day.
