Mark Lyndell Smith was born July 10, 1965, to C.A. and Peggy Smith in El Dorado Springs, Missouri. He was the youngest of three children. Family meant so much to Mark from his beginning years throughout his life.

His early life and education was in Weaubleau, Missouri, where his father farmed and their family operated Smith’s Restaurant. During his high school years he was active in basketball and baseball, earning multiple high school records. When he wasn’t on a court or field, you would find him fishing, hunting, or helping at the restaurant.

Upon graduation he attended Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar and pursued his love of baseball. After his short time at the college he landed a job with Anderson Parks Wholesaler and became the regions’ most liked candy salesman. Although he thoroughly enjoyed his time in the customer service industry with Anderson Parks, his heart was always with his family at their business in Collins.

On March 7, 1997, he was united in marriage to Angie Price. They made their home in Collins where she was faculty at SBU and he pursued his dream of building his own restaurant. The family moved to Bolivar in 2004 and shortly after opened the Smith’s Restaurant Bolivar location in honor of his mom and dad. If you know Mark, you know he poured his heart and soul into the business, his customers and his employees. He treated everyone like family.

Mark and Angie were blessed with five children during their marriage. As a community, their strength and love for their children was evident. Their daughter, Cali, and son, Canyun, were only with them for a short time, but their lives touched many. Mark showered Shae, Easton and River with love and he adored his family. He made that known and would do anything for his family.

Mark also loved classic cars, playing golf, hunting, fishing and let’s not forget those poker games. He will be remembered for his contagious smile and his giving heart. All you had to do was ask and he would be there or give you what you needed.  As his kids referred to him, he was a great big teddy bear.

Mark went to be with His Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 20, 2022. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cali, and Son, Canyun. He is survived by his wife, Angie Smith, and three children, Shae , Easton and River, of Bolivar, Missouri; parents, C.A. and Peggy Smith of Collins, Missouri; brothers and family, Randy Smith and wife Beverly of Collins, Missouri, and Leland Smith and wife Gayla of Collins, Missouri; as well as many other relatives and friends.
