Laveta Fern (Lowry) Stiles passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on July 24, 2022. She had been afflicted with Alzheimer’s for the past few years.
Laveta was born near Osceola, Missouri on December 7, 1932, daughter of Eula and Tom Lowry of Vista, Missouri. She grew up in Vista and attended Osceola High School. On June 22, 1952, she married William Stiles at the Vista Methodist Church. They marriage endured for over 70 years.
Laveta and Bill moved to Raytown in December 1957 and lived there for 60 years. She was active in church activities and was secretary at Countryside Methodist Church for many years. Among her many activities were caring for her children, baking, canning vegetables, sewing, and singing in the church choir.
Laveta is survived by her husband Bill, her sister Carolyn, her children Patty, Tom (Sandi) and Jim (Laurie), five grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. Laveta was preceded in death by a sister Marion.
