Letha (Daisy) Swafford was born May 17,1931 to Andrew (Andy) McCoy Smith and Beulah Viola Barker Smith in Iconium, Missouri. She passed away at Seasons Care Center in Kansas City, Missouri, surrounded by family on October 18, 2018.
She spent her childhood in Iconium and Osceola, Missouri. She was the 8th of 12 children. Her parents moved to Kansas City for a brief period during her teen years and she met and married Donald Damond Hudson and to this union three children were born. A daughter, Geraldine (Carol), two sons, Donald Damond Jr., and Allen McCoy. They divorced in 1952 and she met Harold Evert Swafford in Webb City, Missouri in 1953, and they were married in Huntsville, Arkansas on July 27, 1953, accompanied by her Grandfather John Barker, and her Uncle Harold Barker. She was an excellent musician, playing piano, guitar, and harmonica. She also was an artist and seamstress.
Daisy was preceded in death by Harold in 1997. She was also preceded in death by her parents in 1981, and 10 of her siblings throughout the years, Lowell McCoy Smith, Lena Cathrine, Esther Viola, Raymond Eugene, Marvin Leroy, Lucille Irene, Lucy Pansy, Nova Lee Violet, Ola June, Andrew Delano.
She is survived by her oldest sister, Dorotha Geneva Hart of Osceola, Missouri, and her three children; a sea of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
