Trainer, John K. March 12, 1935 - April 8, 2018

John Keith Trainer was born March 12, 1935 to Phillip Dewey and Elsie Jay (Julian) Trainer of Clinton, Missouri. John was the youngest of five children and the twin of Kathleen Trainer. He passed away April 8, 2018 at his home in rural Osceola, Missouri with his family by his side.

He lived and grew up on Tebo Street in Clinton, Missouri. He graduated from Clinton High School with the class of 1953. From there, John joined the United States Army serving in Greenland with the “Blue Nose” Battalion on Thule Air Force Base. After the military he went on to a successful career with Western Electric of Lee’s Summit, Missouri where he began as a toolmaker and later moved into management with AT&T retiring in 1985.

In July of 1963 John married Frances Ann McGuire of East Lynne, Missouri. Together they raise three children; Franklin Ray, Christine Ellen, and Jennifer Lee Trainer. Most of their years together were spent in the small community of East Lynne, Missouri from where he commuted to work and served in a variety of civic roles including School Board President and Mayor.

In 1980 the Trainer’s purchased their current farm in Saint Clair County where they built a house in 1996 and enjoyed the best in country life. John loved to hunt, fish, and walk the farm’s many trails. The second story of the home features a covered back porch which has been and continues to be a cherished gathering place for family and friends. In John’s later years he enjoyed his lathe and woodworking hobby where he was noted as a gifted craftsman with many fine pieces to show for his effort. Most significant to John’s life here on earth is his humble return to church with Mom; his recognition of JESUS CHRIST as LORD, his repentance, and his receiving of HIM as his personal SAVIOR.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Phil and Elsie Trainer; four sister, Jeane Gorman, Mary Hosack, Carolyn O’Conner and Kathleen Van Ormer.

He is survived by his wife Fran, of the home; son, Frank; daughters, Chris and Jennifer; son-in-law, Danny Bromley of Lee’s Suimmit, Missouri; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Trainer of Osceola, Missouri; grandchildren, Will and Jackson Korf of Kansas City, Missouri, Matthew and Katie Bromley of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Erica May of Olathe, Kansas and Sarah Moore of Lexington, Kentucky.
