Naressa Lazeen Woods-Veach passed away Monday evening, October 5, 2015 at Research Hospital in Kansas City, MO. Naressa was born to Billy T and Donna Lou Wilson-Woods on March 20, 1957 in Deepwater at the home of her grandparents, Otis and Ivah Wilson. The doctor assisting was Dr. G.B. Doman of Lowry City. Naressa enjoyed her young age in Deepwater playing with sisters and neighbors. In 1964 the family moved to a St. Clair County farm and later several other farms in neighboring counties, so Naressa attended schools in Osceola, Wheatland, El Dorado Springs and was a Lakeland Viking graduate 1976 as the family had moved back to Lowry City, MO. Naressa worked as a City Treasurer in Lowry City and during that time she met Arman Richard (Rick) Ewing of Osceola. The courtship led to their marriage in June of 1979 in Miami, OK. Naressa and Rick made their home in Lowry City. In 1982 their son Travis Reid was born. In 1983 Naressa lost Rick in the fatal explosion of the fireworks plant in Clinton, MO. For a while Naressa returned with her son Travis to live with her parents. She spent several years on the farm working cattle, crop farming, and mowing, raking, and baling hay while raising her son. Naressa always had lots of laying hens and enjoyed the farm life. She always found time to return home to take her dad and some sisters on a day outing of shopping and riding around once a week. In later years Naressa returned to Lowry City working for Jim Quakenbush in his new store on Highway 13. Then she gained employment at Rival Manufacturing in Clinton and worked there until the plant closed down. During that time Naressa met Roy Edward Veach, living in Clinton. Naressa and Ed returned to the family farm tending to the cattle and taking care of a grandmother and his dad. Naressa worked for Schreiber Foods in Clinton for several years until a broken leg caused early retirement. She continued with the numerous laying hens and gardening putting up many jars of produce. This marriage dissolved and Naressa returned to town in Lowry City a couple of months before her death. Naressa was a great cook learning from her mother. She would make special cakes and foods for family gatherings celebrating holidays and birthdays and for friends who gathered. She always enjoyed the gathering of her siblings, parents and all the nieces and nephews. Naressa was a very dedicated mother to her son Travis in his youth always providing for his needs. She was happy to be a grandmother and mother-in-law. She was always busy and on the go to cattle sales, shopping and visiting with friends in surrounding communities.
