Shirley Mae Warner passed away Friday, July 14, 2023, at age 95.

She was born August 31, 1927, at North Kansas City, MO to William Clyde and Mae Gladys Carmichael. She was the third of their four children, including Betty (Crump), William C. Jr. (Bud), and Jan (Shy).

In her childhood, Shirley’s family moved to rural Lowry City, MO. She attended Kelly School, then Lowry City School where she graduated in 1945.

After graduation, Shirley went to work in Kansas City. Her boss introduced her to her brother Paul Warner, who became the love of Shirley’s life. They were married March 26, 1946, in Kansas City, MO. They were married 69 years until Paul’s death in 2015.

Shirley and Paul lived for several years in Coffeyville, KS, where their first child, Tim (Timothy) was born in 1950. They later moved to Lowry City, MO to take up farming.

Shirley later attended CMSU in Warrensburg, MO. She earned a degree in education, graduating in 1975. She served as an elementary and special education teacher at Lowry City/Lakeland until her retirement.

Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, pursuing several crafts, and weekly card games with close friends. She attended Lowry City Methodist Church, and the Order of the Eastern Star.

For a few years she had lived with her son Tim and his wife Ann in Boonville, MO. For the last few weeks of her life, she was a resident at Truman Lake Manor in Lowry City, where she passed away.

Shirley is survived by her son Tim and daughter-in-law Ann of Booneville, MO, daughter Karen and son-in-law Doug of Osceola, MO, and her sister Jan of Republic, MO, 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Paul Warner, her parents, a granddaughter Kristina, sister Betty and Brother Bud (Bill).
