Steve S. Webb 65, passed away on Saturday July 2, 2022, in the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born August 11, 1956, to George and Sally (Higginbottom) Webb in Wyandotte, Michigan.

Steve always knew he would be a mechanic. He would tear apart his toys just to see how they were made. At the age of 12, he got his first job at a junk yard.

Steve left Michigan at the age of 16 and moved to Grandview, Missouri. He lived with his mother and stepfather, Jim Cox. Steve had a great deal of love and respect for Jim. He always said if it weren’t for Jim, it’s hard telling how he would have turned out. The two of them had a close bond and Jim was always there for him.

At 17, Steve joined the Army. He worked on tanks and drove them while in Germany. He patrolled the Czechoslovakian Border. After he got out of the service he came back to Missouri, which remained his home for the rest of his life.

He worked as a mechanic at several locations in the South Kansas City area. In January of 1986 he opened Webb’s Automotive in South Kansas City. In 1996 he sold the business and his family moved to Lowry City. Steve worked at Golden Valley Ford Tractor in Clinton. In 1998 he purchased a building in Lowry City and opened Webb’s Automotive. He retired at the age of 62, in 2018. Steve put all his blood, sweat and tears into his shop, but he always found time for his family.

Steve and Kathy started dating in 1985 and married on July 12, 1997. They were together a total of 37 years. Their 25th wedding anniversary will be celebrated on July 12.

He leaves behind his wife Kathy, his father George Webb who passed away July 4, 2022, 3 daughters: Shelly Ferguson (Rick) of Belton, MO, Kerry Triska of Belton, MO, and Mickey Szudarski (John) of Harrisonville, MO, as well as 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, his stepfather Jim Cox of Lowry City, his siblings: Mike Webb of Rhode Island, Bonnie Primak of Carleton, MI, Darcy Campbell of Rockwood, MI, Erik Webb (Kathy) of New York, and numerous friends.

Steve is preceded in death by his mother Sally Cox, grandson Dustin Hogle, grandson Brody Szudarski, and his sister Linda Bergman.

He was the best husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Steve was one of the most caring, loving, and thoughtful people I have ever known. He would do anything and everything to help people. He worked a lot of long hours and sometimes 7 days a week. Steve would drive long distances to help people who were broke down. Always helping people in their time of need. He has paid bills for people, bought window air conditioning units, cars, even tv’s for people. He was a very generous man and would give the shirt off his back to anyone. He had a huge heart, especially for elderly people. Steve was highly respected, honest, very loyal to his friends and family and he never wanted anything in return, just a thank you.

Steve was the love of my life, my soulmate, my one and only love. I will love and miss him forever. I will meet you at Heaven’s gate. Love you sweetheart.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Lowry City Church Of God Holiness in care of the Sheldon –Goodrich Funeral Home.

ALL THE THINGS I COULDN’T SAY

    This poem is called
    -Our Loving Father-

God took the strength of a mountain & the
    majesty of a tree.
The warmth of a summer sun, the calm of a
    quiet sea.
The generous soul of nature & the
    comforting arm of night.
The wisdom of the ages and the power of
    the eagle’s flight,
The joy of a morning in spring & the faith
    of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity & the depth of a
    family need,
    Then God combined these qualities,
When there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete,
And so, He called it – ‘dad!

A father is the noblest title a man can be given. it is more than a biological role. it signifies a patriarch, a leader, an exampler, A confidant, a hero, a friend.

My Pops was the best man I have ever known, he was my role model, a role model of what a good father and a good husband looked like. He loved my mom and us girls. How blessed we all were to have him. My Pops was always there for everyone, not just us girls and our mom, but to everyone who needed a friend or some fatherly advice…. I will miss all his fatherly advice. He was so wise and loving. unconditionally loving.
I loved that the most about him. -His heart. He loved so many people. So many of you, so many friends, But mostly my Momma. I’ll always smile when I think back of how he would tease her and they would giggle like high school kids newly in love. Even after almost 40 years together they were still very much in love and we could see it in their relationship. Their love was a testimony to me of what life could be built off of when you have that kind of love.
I will cherish our family get togethers forever and smile when I think of the wonderful family that he brought together. That he built. I will be eternally grateful for him always always being there when I needed him. He was our rock and always just a phone call away. What a gift from God you were Pops -I will miss you. Thanks for loving a bratty kid when you didn’t have to. I will always love you.
