Darrel Lloyd Whitesell, age 80, of El Dorado Springs, MO. passed away Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. He was born February 3, 1933 in Filley, MO to Lloyd and Wilda Whitesell.
Darrel attended school through eighth grade in El Dorado and in 1948 they moved to Stockton where he graduated high school. After graduation he went to DeSoto, KS and worked at Hercoles Power Company. He joined the Army to serve his country in 1953 and completed his tour of duty February 25, 1955.
After completing his tour in the Army, Darrel worked at Frog Morlans Service Station and then went to work at the Power Plant until the plant closed. He then went to work for James Coleman at his service station. Later, he retired from Mid American Dairyman after thirty years of being the Warehouse Foreman.
In 1956, Darrel married Phyllis Duckering. To this union, three children were born, Debra Lynn on September 30, 1956, Dana Lea on August 8, 1957, and Daren Lloyd on March 10, 1962.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Wilda, and his sister, Joyce.
Darrel is survived by his wife, Phyllis; his daughters, Debra and Dana, and her husband, Bruce; and his son, Daren; six grandchildren, David, Kristi, Dalton, Allen, Coty and Jessica; eight great grandchildren, Keegan, Lakin, Jack, Johnny, Sierra, Codey, Hunter, and Dayton; sisters, June White and husband, Wayne, Diana Hamilton and husband, Sam and several nieces and nephews.
