Estel Lee Wood, son of Hazel Cox Wood and Lester Lee Wood, was born September 17, 1934 at Harper, Missouri. Estel passed away at his home near Harper on Sunday, November 20, 2011
Estel attended Bear Creek and Harper schools and graduated from Osceola High School in 1952. He joined the United States Air Force in 1954 and served four years. He was discharged in 1957 with a rank of Master Sergeant.
Following his service in the military, Estel returned to Missouri and began assembling a herd of dairy cattle. Most of his life was spent in the Harper community managing his dairy and beef cattle. Estel married Eleanor Winter in 1957 and three sons, Rick, Ron, and Brian were born to this union. In 1968 Estel married Edith Logan. Edith preceded him in death after 40 years of marriage.
Estel enjoyed coon hunting and fishing the Osage and Bear Creek with his boys as they were growing up. One of his favorite pastimes was to check his cattle while riding his four-wheeler. He enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his herd. Estel looked forward to telling stories and laughing with friends and family.
Estel is survived by his three sons, Rick, Ron, and Brian all of Osceola; a brother, Bill Wood and sister Jeanie Thomas, both of Osceola; grandsons Jeremy, Brad and Dustin Wood; five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Estel was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Hazel Wood and grandson Derek Austin Wood.
