Sharon Rae Wood (Lovelace) age 80, of El Dorado Springs, Missouri passed away Saturday May 18, 2024. She was born in Watertown NY on February 24, 1944 to Eradina Grace Wilmart and Victor Dale Lovelace.
She was raised in the Troy and later the Green Island areas of New York and graduated from Heatley High School in Green Island NY in 1962. Sharon was keenly interested in learning and education and that never stopped even in her later years. Her love of learning led her to include learning sign language so that she could help others. Her favorite education was the study of the Bible and all that it taught her. She was able to eventually interpret for the deaf, not just in a secular capacity but also in large Bible education conventions so the hearing impaired would be able to get the information and understand it.
She had such a joy for teaching and for helping others. She could often be heard offering to tutor children or to teach accordion playing or how to do crocheting or scrapbooking or even how to do sign language her whole entire life. She held many interesting vocations throughout her life. One of these vocations was teaching the Bible and she had fond memories of when she and Dave moved to places where they could teach others in the ministry who had little opportunity to learn what the Bible offered. Sharon lived in many areas of the United States and loved all the traveling experiences she had with her family. They moved to many areas even to very remote places like the wilderness of Alaska or the plains of North Dakota very near the Canadian border.
Sharon and her husband David loved adventures and they loved nothing better than to sit down at the kitchen table to plan the latest escapade; like once completely turning a school bus into an RV and living in it while in Texas while Dave worked on a building project in San Antonio. She loved camping and she loved vacation planning. She was often planning, cooking, sewing, crocheting, or making lists of things to bring on trips. She loved collecting and reading new cook books, many from her travels. She made many beautiful scrapbooking photo albums of all of her adventures.
She dearly loved her husband, her children, cats, goats, garages sales, collecting and her most highly favored hobby was sitting down with a friend or two and a good cup of coffee. She was a dynamic, vivacious and outgoing person who made people feel welcome into her life as soon as she met them. If she was found sitting, she was crocheting; always making gifts for others, if fact her last item crocheted was a hat she made a couple of months ago as a gift for a nurse.
After retirement Sharon and Dave finally settled in Missouri and that was her favorite place of all. She made many dear friends in El Dorado Springs and loved visiting with them and sharing meals. She really relished living in retirement with her husband. She enjoyed her El Do home and the deer and wildlife that meandered into her back yard and by the back pond. She loved the big tree outside her window with the squirrels that entertained her by the hour.
Sharon was especially fond of her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her four children, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild: daughter Lynda Marie, husband Reza Hoghoughi and their son Daniel and wife Logan, her son Roger David Wood, wife Lorena, and their daughter Mariah Wood, great grandson Leo Roberts and fiancé Jeffrey and their son Devin Wood, and also Mitchell Alan Wood, wife Jolena and their children; Austin, Blake, Cheyenne and Ivy, and also her son Tristen Emile Wood. Also she was survived by her sister Phyllis House, husband Jim and their children.
Her smile and life lessons will continue on and be talked about for many years to come but for now; she sleeps peacefully in death until the resurrection.
