Elmer Eugene Akins was born May 29, 1932 in Butler, Missouri to Elmer and Elsie (Merriman) Akins. He passed away September 20, 2015 at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital, Clinton, MO.
His early life was spent in the Creighton, MO area. After high school graduation he was united in marriage to Nancy Lou Smith. To this union was born two children.
Elmer served his country during the Korean Conflict with the US Army. He was honorably discharged on October 29, 1954.
He worked most of his life as a heavy equipment operator, mostly in the Kansas City, MO area. On February 25, 2000 he was united in marriage to Glenda Bruce. Their married life was spent in the Stockton, MO area.
Elmer loved animals. He loved to hunt and fish. He is survived by his wife, Glenda, of the home, one son, Mike and wife Lisa of East Lynne, MO, one daughter, Patty Stephens and husband Billy of Garden City, MO, one brother, Roy Akins and wife Ruth of Creighton, MO, three grandchildren, Rachel Gregory and husband Jimmy, Chris Akins and Jacqueline Huslig and husband Chad, one great granddaughter, Hannah Ponder, other relatives and many friends.
