James Wallace Barnard Sr, age 83, a lifelong resident of Cass County, Missouri, departed this life on April 7, 2017. He was born on March 20, 1934 in East Lynn, Missouri to Clyde V. Barnard and Kate Christine (Eiffort) Barnard.
He grew up and attended school in the Harrisonville area. James married Mickie Lee Atkinson on August 2, 1952. They were married for fifty-three years. They had six children.
James attended the Missouri Auction School in 1960 graduating at the top of his class. He farmed and raised cattle. He also was a heavy equipment operator for the Missouri State Highway Dept. and the Cass County Road and Bridge Dept., eventually becoming the Superintendent until he retired.
He accepted the Lord as his savior in 2005.
James was preceded in death by an infant son Mark Allan Barnard in 1959 and his beloved wife Mickie Lee Barnard in 2005.
He is survived by his children James Wallace Barnard Jr. of El Dorado Springs, Missouri, Michael Dean Barnard of Hume, Missouri, Steven Lee Barnard of Kansas City, Missouri, Richard Eugene Barnard of Halfway, Missouri, Gloria Ann (Barnard) Roth of Harrisonville, Missouri; ten grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren; one brother Ira Clinton Barnard of Archie, Missouri; one sister Rose Ellen McCallister of Harrisonville, Missouri; and many nephews and nieces.
