He was the oldest of six siblings. He attended one room school houses in the St. Clair county area, then graduated High School from Osceola Mo. He served in the Navy reserves. Alfred enjoyed fishing and hunting with family and friends. Alfred also served the Lord with the Gerster Baptist Church as a Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent. He and Janie became especially good with gardening as well as dancing together. They were members of the Moonshiners Social Club for many years where they danced. After moving back to Missouri he became an accomplished Stone Mason. Many homes around reflect his beautiful artistry. He was loved by his grandchildren and he so loved them. Actually, they were the center of his world.

We are confident, I say, and willing to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord – 2nd Corinthians 5:8 Poppy would love nothing more than to know that his family and friends have a relationship with Jesus Christ and will see him soon.
