James Sherman Brownlee was born on August 30th, 1937, to James William and Birdie Lee (Cloud) Brownlee and departed this life December 30th, 2021, at the age of 84.

He was married June 30th, 1957, to Ruby Jean Sherman of Lowry City. To this union three children were born, Mark Allen Brownlee, Michael Lynn Brownlee, and Marla LeAnn Brownlee Gibbens.

In 1957, they moved to Kansas City and Jim worked on the assembly line at Buick, Oldsmobile, Pontiac for a year before they moved back to the farm southwest of Lowry City. There he lived the rest of his life.

Jim enjoyed farming with his father-in-law Luther Sherman until Luther passed away. He continued farming with his son Mark. They had row crops, beef cattle, hogs, and a dairy barn. With the dairy barn someone had to be there twice a day and it usually fell to Jim or one of his sons Mark or Mike.

In 1984 the rock quarry Batesco was established on the ground his aunt Dimple Blakely left him on Weaubleau Creek. He enjoyed going down there through the years and towards the end of his life he would get a senior center meal and drive down to Weaubleau Creek and eat his lunch down there.

After semi-retiring at 62, he enjoyed maintaining his different rental properties and hitting the coffee shop every morning.

Jim enjoyed all through his life coonhunting, white bass fishing, deer hunting, and riding horses and his mules. Especially his mule, Ed. He enjoyed all these hobbies with his children, grandchildren, and even great grandchildren.

He is survived by his children: Mark (Regina) Brownlee, Marla (Larry) Gibbens, five grandchildren: James (Jamie), Larry (Christl), Nathan (Shelby), Tanner (Megan), and Conner Gibbens. Five great grandchildren: Braxton, Brooklyn, Brhett, Chism, and Adena Brownlee. Sister-in-laws: Patsy Brownlee, Winnie (Dwight) Wood and Annie Creek. As well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents: James W. and Birdie Brownlee, son: Michael Brownlee, and brothers: Thomas and Larry Brownlee.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Osceola Senior Center (Rivers Crossing) in Osceola, Missouri in care of the Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home.
