Martha Elizabeth (Green) Burns was born February 6, 1921 to Clayton and Maud (Wilson) Green in Elliott, Iowa. She passed away in Bolivar, Missouri on June 4, 2015.
At the age of 3 Martha’s mother passed away leaving her father with 4 boys and 2 girls to raise. Martha graduated high school from Griswald High School in 1938. After high school she started working at a restaurant, which is where she met her future husband; Gerald Burns. They were married on April 5, 1941.
Martha worked as a secretary for Pace Products, retiring in 1980. Her past few years were at Parkview Healthcare facility in Bolivar, Missouri. She was a member of the Gerster Baptist Church.
Martha loved to paint and cook. Her happiest times were when she was helping others.
Her brothers and half sister preceded her in death. She leaves behind 16 nieces and nephews, whom she spoke proudly of, and a multitude of friends
