Harvey Eugene Cain of El Dorado Springs, Missouri passed away on June 5, 2013 at the age of 89 at Cedar County Memorial Hospital following a short illness. Harvey was one of eleven children. He was born and raised in and around Cainsville, Missouri on July 23, 1923 to Claude and Bernice Cain. He graduated from a local country school in the 8th grade in 1936 and entered into the Army in 1943 and was honorably discharged in 1944. On July 15, 1945 he met Vernice Gilbert in Kansas City, Missouri and on December 31, 1945 they were united in marriage. They moved to El Dorado Springs in 1958. They have four sons, Ted and wife, Sarita, Cletis and wife, Sue, Tom and wife, Joyce, Dave and wife, Cindy. They have fifteen grandchildren, Brian Cain, Doug Cain, Amanda and husband, Tyson Twedt, Julie Murray, Kyle Cain, Daphne Cox, Corey and wife, Robin Cain, Susie and husband, Scott McCollum, Kayla Cain, Krissy and husband, Chad Walter, Kimmy and husband, J.P. Nielsen, Kamber Cain, Tausha Cain, Tyrell and wife, Aubrey Cain, Trisha and husband, Alfonso Camberos and fourteen and a half great grandchildren. He retired from Contel Telephone Company after 27 years in 1985. After his retirement, he enjoyed his daily visits to the coffee shop. Harvey loved the Lord and was saved April 21, 1961 at Blue Ridge Church of God Holiness. He was baptized at the bridge below the church when the creek was up. When they tipped his head back his feet came out from under him and could hardly get back up. He really enjoyed attending church and rarely missed a service. Harvey was not only known for being a wonderful husband, loving father and always a gentleman that never met a stranger, he was also known for his watermelon patches, raising cattle and bailing hay.
