Chambers, Dan D. October 27, 1924 - December 31, 2017

Dan Delo Chambers was born October 27, 1924 in Perryton, Texas to Frank and Mary (Norwood) Chambers. He passed away December 31, 2017 in Mt. Vernon, Missouri at the Veterans Home.

He started working early in life on the family farm near Claremore, Oklahoma. Dan sometimes sold produce from their farm in Tulsa.  He worked the wheat harvest from Texas to Canada as a young man before WW2 along with many other farm and ranch jobs. Dan also worked at Douglas aircraft in Tulsa.

Dan proudly served his country in the Unite States Navy from 1942 to 1945

After the war, he went to visit his brother Frank in Minnesota where he met Shirley Lou Arner. Dan and Shirley were united in marriage May 30, 1947 and to this union 2 children were born, Marilyn and Tom.  They lived in Minnesota for about 20 years.  He worked as a welder at American Hoist and Derrick and as a machinist at the American Can Co. and the 3M Corporation.  Dan grew tired of the long winters up north so the family, which now included children Marilyn and Tom, moved to Osceola, Missouri in 1968, following his brother Frank and sister-in-law Estelle who had moved there earlier.  Dan spent lived nearly 50 years in the Osceola area working as a farmer and being active in the 1st Baptist Church serving as a deacon.

He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley; his parents, Frank and Mary and 10 brothers and sisters.

Dan is survived by his son, Tom and wife Connie Chambers; daughter, Marilyn Coffey; grandchildren Frank Stuhlman and Shinora Chambers; great-grandchildren, Delanie Jo, Chevelle Elizabeth along with numberous cousins, other relatives and many friends.
