Dawson, Jean December 21, 1934 - June 13, 2014

Goldie Jean Dawson was born on December 21, 1934 to Vern I. and Easter Lily Breeden. Jean was born in a one room log cabin in Oyer, MO. She departed this world on Friday, June 13, 2014 at the family home near Oyer.

Jean was united in marriage on January 28, 1950 to Clifton Lee Dawson. From this union three sons were born, Steven, Michael and Jeffrey. Jean was preceded in death by her mother and father, her beloved sister Bessie, and her oldest son, Steven.

She is survived by her husband of sixty four years, Clifton Lee Dawson. She is survived also, by her son Michael and wife Debby, son Jeffrey and wife Elizabeth and her grandchildren, Steven, Jacob, Andrew, Kathleen, Cody and Aron.

As a lifelong member of the Oyer community, Jean was very active. She was a fifty year member of the Jolly Farmers women’s club. She served for years as a St. Clair County election official, actively supporting her political beliefs. She was a volunteer member of the St. Clair County Health Department Hospice Program. Jean participated faithfully in all her children and grandchildren’s activities at Roscoe School.

Jean worked alongside her husband Cliff on their family farm in the Oyer area. Jean was an avid gardener and quilter. Her hand stitched quilts were works of art and suppers at Jean’s house always included a homemade pie.

In later years, Jean provided many hours of mentoring to her grandchildren, teaching them the fine art of mastering video games. She also had a passion for completing puzzles, word games and cross word puzzles (in ink).

She will be sadly missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.
