Bonny Jean “Jeanie” (Gardner) Floyd 63, of Osceola, Missouri passed away on May 12, 2020 due to complications from her battle with cancer.  It would be wrong to say that she “lost” her battle because she never stopped fighting.  She smiled through her struggles and fought with the resilience and perseverance of a champion. Her departure from this life is a sad time for many of us but is also a time to reflect on the love that she has given us and to celebrate that she has rejoined her heavenly family.  She officially has her wings.

She was born February 10, 1957 at the Appleton City Hospital to Robert “Bob” Gardner and Bonny (Wheeler) Gardner.  A lifelong Missouri native, Jeanie was well-loved by all that knew her.  “A sweet soul with a giving spirit” and “one of the kindest people I’ve ever met” are her common descriptors.  Jeanie took great pride in her family, especially her grandchildren. She always made sure that everyone felt special and baked their favorite treats.   She dearly treasured her large extended family and her life-long friendships.  She lovingly referred to Lynn as “Little Brother” and enjoyed telling stories about their adventures growing up together. It was obvious to all that “Little Brother” and her beloved cousins were very precious to her.

Jeanie worked in the restaurant and travel business early in her adulthood. She began working as a bookkeeper at St. Clair County State Bank in July of 1986 and proudly continued her career there until her sickness prevented it.  During her years of service, she developed many friendships and prepared countless meals for her co-workers.  She loved to cook and share her talents in the kitchen with anyone who was hungry (or might get hungry!) A giving and selfless woman, Jeanie always went out of her way to ensure that others were taken care of and did what she could to make sure that they were happy.

On July 3, 1987, Jeanie married Freddie L. Floyd.  With that marriage, Jeanie gained four step-children that she loved as if they were her own – Robert Floyd, Stacy Rogers, Heidi Aton and Heather Berry. She joyfully took on the role of being a mother and wife with much love in her heart.  Years later she discovered a new love – the immeasurable love of being a grandmother to Quinton and Christopher Rogers, Allie, Sean, Kira and Emma Berry, Cole and Bo Aton, and Rylan Evans.

Jeanie developed cancer in recent years, but always retained her positive outlook on life.  She took her sickness and turned it into an opportunity to befriend many doctors, nurses, and medical staff members.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert “Bob” Gardner and her mother, Bonny (Wheeler) Gardner.  Jeanie is survived by her husband, Freddie L. Floyd; her children and their families – Robert L. Floyd and wife Melissa, Stacy Rogers and husband David, Heidi Aton and husband Matt, Heather Berry and husband Trent; her brother Lynn Gardner and his family, nieces Susan Williams and Rachel Gardner-Rothmayer, nephew Ben Gardner and many friends and family members.

Jeanie always gave of herself to others. She shared her positive outlook, her sweet disposition, and her marvelous cooking with family, friends, coworkers, her church family, and her community. I so wish I could be there to comfort the family with hugs. Our lovely memories of Jeanie will have to sustain us until we meet her again in heaven.

Jeanie will be greatly missed. She was so kind and caring. Always upbeat. I had no idea she was sick. Going to the bank to have her handle my problem or issue was the highlight of that day . Our condolences to her family
