Harry William (Bill) Foote was born on July 27, 1924 to Charles Leo and Nellie Marguerite (Vanice) Foote in Kansas City, Missouri. He attended grade school there and in 1937 moved to Vista, Missouri to a farm just south of town. He attended and graduated from Osceola High School in 1941
Bill enlisted in the Army in mid 1942; took Basic and Advanced Training at Camp Callan, California. He was assigned to the 6th AAA Group and was shipped to the Pacific Theater in early 1943, where he served for almost 3 years. He was honorably discharged on December 27, 1945 at the rank of Sergeant.
Bill married Jimmie Jean Smith on March 30, 1946. Bill and Jimmie had four sons, Steve, Tim, Bill and James Richard.
He was a professional truck driver for 50 years. He hauled livestock, cheese, new automobiles, bombs, missiles, machinery and anything else you can get on a truck.
Bill married Clara Elizabeth Kauffman on September 8, 1984. They started Mid-Lakes Express, and operated that as a successful business until 1995 when he retired.
He received Christ as his Savior early in his adult life and was a member of the Gerster Baptist Church.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Nellie Foote; his older brother, Ed and sister, Betty. He is survived by his brother, Clyde Leo and wife Ila Foote; four sons, Steve and wife Merrilee, Tim and wife Terry, Bill, James Richard and wife Karen; nine grandchildren and three great-granddaughters.
