Harris, Jackie Thomas April 25, 1941 - December 5, 2014

Jackie “Jack” T. Harris, age 73 passed from this life surrounded by loved ones at his home in Harrisonville, MO on Dec. 5, 2014.  Jack was born April 25, 1941 in Warsaw, MO to Woodrow T. Harris and Alleen (Breshears) Harris.

Jack attended numerous country schools in Bates and St. Clair Counties and was a graduate of Lowry City High School class of 1959.  Jack was active in his high school and recalled his high school years and his classmates fondly.   Jack began working for the USPS in 1961 as a mail carrier in Independence, MO.  He was promoted to management in 1974 and held numerous managerial positions before his retirement in 1992.  He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers from 1964 to 1974 where he held many elected positions.  At the time of his retirement Jack held the position of  Kansas Management Sectional Center Director of Operations Services.  Jack retired to St. Clair County to run his own cattle farm near the family farm outside of Lowry City.

Jack married Theresa Blankenship Corl November 7, 2003.  Jack grew up hunting, fishing, farming, riding horses and continued to enjoy many of these pleasures on their farm until July of 2014 when illness caused a move to Harrisonville, MO.

Jack was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lowry City, a lifetime member and former President of the St. Clair County Historical Society, a member of the Son’s of Confederate Veterans. Jack was an avid outdoorsman and photographer.

Jack was preceded in death by his father Woodrow Harris of Lowry City.  Services by Sheldon’s, Osceola.  Wed. Dec.10,   visitation at noon with service at 1pm.

Survivors include his wife, Theresa Blankenship Harris of the home, mother, Alleen Harris Truman Manor, Lowry City,  daughter, Delisa Dawn Spurgeon and Delisa’s husband Roger of Lowry City, MO and children Jeremy Spurgeon and Jessica Hughes,  son-by-marriage, Christopher M. Corl (Rachel) of E. Brunswick, NJ, and grandchildren-by-marriage, Hannah and Justin Corl, E. Brunswick, NJ, numerous cousins and friends. Among those friends his longtime, devoted friend John D. Harris formerly of Appleton City (currently of Harrisonville, MO).
