Robert Harold Johnston was born June 8, 1919 in Warrensburg, Missouri to Jerry Mallerd and Harriett Ann (Miller) Johnston. He passed away February 1, 2011 at Truman Lake Manor Nursing Home, Lowry City, Missouri.
He graduated from Osceola High School in 1937. Shortly after graduation Robert was united in marriage to Estella Settle. To this union 5 children were born. Estella preceded him in death on June 24, 1987.
On January 15, 1989 Robert and Nina Roberts were united in marriage in Osceola, MO. Robert was an Army Veteran serving during WWII. He was an outdoors-man who loved to fish and hunt. He enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren very much.
Also preceding him in death are his parents and brothers, Wayne, Cliff, Bill and J.W. Johnston; sisters, Mayme Knoll and Louise Hennington.
He is survived by his loving wife, Nina, of the home; his sons, Robert William Johnston, Camas, WA; Jerry Albert Johnston, Claypool, AZ; Calvin Bradford Johnston, Lebanon, MO; Kenneth Lee Johnston, Carson, WA and daughter, Juanita Louise Eckhoff, Windsor, MO; stepchildren, Bill Roberts, Lowry City, MO, Jerry Roberts, Osceola, MO, David Roberts, Clinton, MO, and Dale Roberts, Osceola, MO, Darrel Roberts of Clinton, MO; Sue Self, Osceola, MO; two sisters in-law, Ernestine Durbin and Erma Lee Leiber, one brother in-law, Ivan Leiber all of Vista, MO; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Robert was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, father in-law and friend who will be missed by all who loved him.
He lost his battle for life but won a victory over pain and despair.
