Eleanor Marian Kennon Jones was born July 20, 1935 to Palmer and Ruby Deshazo Kennon in Collins, Missouri and was followed a couple of years later by a brother, Neil. She lived in the Collins area the first 16 years of her life. She went home to be with her savior Jesus Christ peacefully on August 16, 2016.
She was saved when she was 12 years old at Mt. Enon Baptist Church and was a member of Brush Creek Church for many years where she was the church pianist.
Eleanor married Roy Eugene Miller while he was in the Air Force and lived in Maryville, California at Beale Air Force Base. To this union was born two daughters, Judy Ann and Jeannie Kaye.
She learned to sew while her daughters were small and made clothes, drapes, wedding gowns and anything that could be sewed on the sewing machine, even a boat cover once.
After their divorce, she worked as a waitress at the commercial hotel restaurant in Osceola, Missouri and for 15 years at the Edwards Press in Osceola as a secretary and selling school supplies.
In 1989, she married Jerry Dennis Jones and moved to North Kansas City where she worked at the Red-X Mall until the flood in 1993, which destroyed the business.
She and Jerry moved back to El Dorado Springs, Missouri where she worked at Mid-Am Dairy and Witt Printing, then retired to help run their trucking business and brokerage for several years.
Her mother Ruby lived to the age of 101 years old! Her dad Palmer passed away in 1982.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry; daughters, Judy (Danny) Burks and Jeannie (Steve) Tompkins; granddaughter, Jacque Miller; grandsons, Steve (Bubba) Tompkins and Reuben Tompkins; great grandson, Jeff Raymond and brother Neil (Janie) Kennon. She also leaves behind many other relatives and a host of friends. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
