Fern Amanda (Triggs) Kauffman, 82 passed away Thursday, June 7, 2012 at Big Springs Nursing home in Humansville, Missouri. Fern was born on June 17, 1929 in Lincoln, Nebraska; she was born to George William Triggs and Mary Elizabeth Pilcher. She was the oldest of 4 children. At a young age the family moved to Missouri. Fern was united in marriage to Cecil Curtis Kauffman on April 29, 1950. To this union four children were born, Alvin Lee, Calvin Lee, Ivan Curtis, and Laveta Fern. They made their home and raised their children on the Kauffman family farm. Fern and Curt milked dairy cows and raised feeder hogs for a living. Fern also raised rabbits which she sold and had several goats that she milked. She loved her animals. Fern was saved in a tent revival at the age of 12. She was a devoted Christian that loved her Lord. Fern and Curt attended the Assembly of God church in Osceola while courting and later joined the Assembly of God church, in Weaubleau. Fern worked as a certified nurse’s Aide at a couple different hospitals and took care of the elderly in their home. However, Fern’s first and most important job was being a mother. She took great pride in cooking and caring for her husband and four children. She would cook a meal, load up the children in the truck and head for the hay field where Curt would be bailing hay and they would have picnics in the back of the truck. Fern is preceded in death by her husband Cecil Curtis Kauffman, father, George William Triggs, mother, Mary Elizabeth Cliff, and one brother Floyd Pilcher. Fern is survived by her four children, Alvin and his wife Sherry of Osceola, Calvin and his wife Kelly of Weaubleau, Ivan and his wife Cheryl of Weaubleau, and Laveta and her husband Eddie of Osceola. 12 grandchildren, Jennifer Frazier and her husband Richie, Mattison and his wife Crissy, Todd and his wife Becca, Samantha and her husband Robert Brannock, Derek, Deven, Charles, Amanda Hoover and her husband Ray, Calab, Hunter Smith, Hydie and Cadan; and ten great grandchildren, Kyleigh, Karsen, and Tucker, Alexandra Kirchhoff, Christian, Riley, Eli, and Annie Brannock, Aleah and Audra. Fern is also survived by two half sisters Joetta Leatherman of Arkansas and Joann Herie of California. Fern was a beautiful person inside and out and will be missed greatly by her family and all that loved her.
