Larry Gene “Butch” Elder December 21, 1943 - July 5, 2026

Larry Gene Elder, “Butch” to his friends, 82, Osceola, Missouri, went to the Lord on July 5, 2026.

He was preceded in death by his wife Rita Arlene Elder and his youngest son Mark Elder.

Butch was a lifelong member of the Masonic Lodge, Military Veteran, and a 60 year member of the Boilers Union.

In his younger years, he was a pilot and a paramedic. He was a professional welder. In his spare time he enjoyed deer hunting, and fishing for blue cat in the Osage and Sac Rivers.

Butch was a master car builder most of his life, enjoying the ground-up restoration process.  He loved raising cattle and chickens.  He loved training his dogs, who were his best friends. Butch spent many years working with his neighbor and friend baling hay.

He was a member of the Osceola community for 30 plus years, and was frequently seen enjoying breakfast in all of the communities surrounding Osceola, and made many friends.

To some of us, he was an important part of our lives and he will be dearly missed.

Services for Butch were held on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at King’s Prairie Cemetery.
