Charles Marion LeBow, Jr. was born near Lowry City, Missouri on January 20, 1933 to Charles Marion and Alma (Bunch) LeBow. He passed away at his home March 19, 2021.
He attended grade school at Short School near the family farm and graduated from Lowry City High School in 1951. Shortly after high school he enlisted with the United States Air Force where he served honorably from 1952 to 1956. Charles worked on the B36 peacemaker that flew secret Cold War missions. He was discharged honorably as a staff sergeant.
Charles then worked a short time for an off shore dredging company in the Gulf of Mexico where he and his crew members spent one night in the water due to the ship catching fire. Charles returned to the family farm for a short time before going to Kansas City where he had a career in Grocery Warehouse and then retiring from delivering bakery products with Dawns Foods. During this time he followed in his father’s footsteps as he spent every spare moment coon hunting with his son and grandson.
He was fortunate enough to spend the last six years on the family farm with his daughter and family, where he enjoyed playing cards and visiting with old friends.
Charles was preceded in death by 3 wives, Geraldine, Donna and Betty; 1 step daughter, Danita and 1 brother, Stanley LeBow.
He is survived by 1 brother, Jack LeBow and wife Sharon of Grove, Oklahoma; 1 daughter, Diana Yates and husband Bill (Buck) Yates of Lowry City, Missouri; 1 son, David LeBow and Rick Deveney of Kansas City, Kansas; 2 grandchildren, Travis Yates of Lowry City, Missouri and Sarah Cook of Stroud, Oklahoma and 1 great grandson, Hunter Cook; 4 step children, Debra Smith, LaDonna Ward, Carrie Moore and Mike Simmons with several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. Also surviving is 1 dear friend, Katherine Snyder.
